Smoochie characters are AI, not real people. They are for entertainment and companionship, not a substitute for professional help. This page explains how we respond when someone may be at risk.

How our crisis protocol works
- Every message you send is checked before a character sees it, by systems that are separate from the character AI: a set of phrases that clearly indicate suicidal thoughts or self-harm, and an independent AI safety classifier trained to recognise suicide and self-harm content (including indirect wording).
- If either check flags a message, the story pauses. Instead of a character reply, you see a support message with crisis resources. The character does not respond to that message.
- Characters are instructed to respond with care afterwards: gently checking in, staying supportive and not continuing romantic scenes unless you clearly want to. Characters are also instructed to step out of the story and point to real help if you seem to be in distress.
- We keep a minimal record that the protocol was triggered (date, type and how it was detected), never the content of your message, so we can measure how the protocol works and meet legal reporting obligations.
Other safeguards
- Smoochie is for adults 18+ only, and characters are always adults.
- Characters are clearly identified as fictional and AI-generated, and images they send are marked as AI-generated.
- Content involving minors, real people or illegal activity is prohibited (see our Terms).
- Daily usage limits apply to every account.
