Smoochie (“Smoochie”, “we”, “us”) is operated by [OPERATOR NAME / LLC]. This policy explains what we collect when you use smoochie.ai, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. Questions: privacy@smoochie.ai.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the service: your account, your profile and your conversations.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use your chats for advertising.
- Your messages are processed by third-party AI providers to generate replies. Please don't share information you wouldn't want processed that way.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from your profile.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored securely hashed by our authentication provider; we never see it).
- Profile details you choose to add: preferred name, pronouns and “about you” text.
- Your conversations: messages you send, the characters' replies, and photos generated in your chats.
- Usage information: message and photo counts (for daily limits), which AI model answered, token counts, timestamps, and basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting providers for security.
- Age confirmation: your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
How we use it
- To provide the service: run your account, generate character replies and photos, and save your chats.
- To personalise conversations, for example characters using your preferred name and profile.
- To keep Smoochie safe: enforce our Terms, prevent abuse and apply usage limits.
- To communicate with you about your account (confirmation, password reset, approval emails).
- To understand costs and improve the service in aggregate.
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example GDPR), we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe service, and your consent where we ask for it.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run Smoochie. They process data on our behalf only as needed:
- Supabase: account authentication, database and photo storage (United States).
- Vercel: website hosting.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to (currently including DeepSeek and Google): your messages and recent conversation are sent to generate replies, photo descriptions and images. These providers may process data in other countries.
- RunPod: GPU servers that generate in-chat photos.
- Resend and Microsoft: sending and receiving email.
- Cloudflare: domain and DNS services.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of any person, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply). We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Cookies and similar technologies
We only use what is strictly necessary for Smoochie to work: a login session cookie, and browser storage to remember that you confirmed you are 18+. We do not currently use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, profile, chats and photos until you delete them or your account. When you delete your account, we delete your data from our systems promptly; copies in backups and provider logs expire on their normal schedules. We may keep limited records where the law requires it or to prevent abuse (for example, a record that an account was banned).
Your rights and choices
- Access and correct: view and edit your profile at any time.
- Delete: delete your account and all its data from your profile page, or email privacy@smoochie.ai.
- Export: ask us for a copy of your data by emailing privacy@smoochie.ai.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have further rights, such as objecting to or restricting processing, withdrawing consent, and complaining to your local data protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
We use encryption in transit, row-level access controls so users can only access their own data, private storage with short-lived links for photos, and limited access for our own staff. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Adults only
Smoochie is only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact privacy@smoochie.ai and we will delete it.
International users
Smoochie is operated from the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using Smoochie you understand your information may be transferred to those countries.
Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant, we will let you know by email or in the app before they take effect.
